Covid effects

How has it affected?

This 2020, was supposed to be the "Super Year for Nature", and several projects were going to be carried out where the United Nations and the UN were going to participate, but COVID arrived and these projects were stopped.

In addition, there have been unexpected beneficial effects not only for the environment, but also for living beings, which is favorable for goal 15.

In the same way, the most talked about in the media is that thanks to the quarantine, animals roam freely through cities without being at risk from human contact. Similarly, the species have found the perfect setting for reproduction like the pandas in a zoo in Hong Kong. These events help to understand the importance of the conservation of each one of the species and, therefore, to maintain the biodiversity of our planet, an important goal of SDG 15.

Possible answears to covid

COVID-19 has been a threat to the human race, but it has also managed to reach everyone's awareness, showing us the importance and proper management that should be given to the different forms of life that surround us. If we change our habits of production and consumption of resources, always trying to take care of terrestrial ecosystems, we could reach a balance with nature, from the relentless urban invasion of natural spaces, the loss of biodiversity, the use of markets with animals wild.

For this reason, the creation of policies based on SDG 15 around the total elimination of illegal wildlife trafficking, the promotion of markets with sustainable products and the management of protected areas would be essential, since nature is crucial for our own survival.
